A Door Knock…

Dawn spills soft light, a gentle nudge to rise,

Coffee’s warm kiss cradles dreams in my eyes.

Lounging on the sofa, phone’s glow in my hand,

The world hums low, a quiet, fleeting strand.

A knock sharp, sudden stirs the morning’s trance,

I leap, heart aflutter, to answer fate’s chance.

There he stands, a stranger, bright as a spark,

Cute as a button, igniting the dark.

His purpose is brief, a fleeting exchange,

I dash inside, heartbeats a touch deranged.

With his things in my hands, I return to his gaze,

He thanks me softly, steps lost in the haze.

Oh, but I linger, unwilling to part,

A question spills forth from my hopeful heart.

Time flees, swift, yet I hold him in sight,

Till he turns the corner, dissolving to light.
